Resting in the LORD
A flower begins as a seed.
The seed rests beneath the earth.
Until the waters soak and soften, open and ready the seed for growth.
Sprout … a root, a stem.
Resting and waiting for natural growth spurts, for rains and dew to keep them moist.
A bloom; a blossom.
In between there is rest.
In the quiet, there is peace and waiting.
We are His seeds, growing into His creations.
We are His buds, becoming His blossoms.
We are His love, spreading out into His world.
We must rest in Him in order for His fullness to be in us.
We must rest in Him in order to be used for His purposes.
We must rest in Him.
Jesus! I am resting, resting
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
(from “Jesus, I am Resting” by David Hampton)
LORD, may I rest in Thee all of my days. May I be still all of my moments. May I be quiet in Your love, in Your beauty. May I rest in You, Sweet Jesus. Amen.
