A Sabbath Moment

Hebrew Shabbat (שַׁבָּת), “to cease”
Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow
Psalm 51:7

set apart..

LORD God Almighty, I pray this psalm … that I be made whiter than snow.  With each new dawning, will You refine me just that much more, just a little bit beyond the day before?  LORD, I want to be cleansed and sanctified, made holy and pleasing for You.  Amen.

Where Does It Go?

slips by me far too easily!

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:…   Ecclesiastes 3:1 KJV

Time flows by in and around, over and through these lives we call ours.  The only thing is that they are not ours.  Our lives belong to God.  He has plans and purposes for them; He holds our future in His hands.  He also gave us a will so that we are able to choose what each moment in every day holds.  We can waste every minute or give those minutes to God for His Glory.  Our choice!

Every moment comes to us pregnant with a command from God,
only to pass on and plunge into eternity,
there to remain forever what we have made of it.
Francis de Sales

…what we have made of it.  Our choice … I know God’s plans for me are His.  He waits to reveal them to me when and if I slow down, rest at His feet, seek His will, be quiet to hear with both my ears and my heart-ears, be still and know that He is God.  How often do I do this?  Surely not often enough.
Let us “redeem the time.” Desultory working, fitful planning, irregular reading, ill-assorted hours, perfunctory or unpunctual execution of business, hurry and bustle, loitering and unreadiness, these, and such like, are the things which take out the whole pith and power from life,
which hinder holiness, and which eat like a canker into our moral being. Horatius Bonar

I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever:
nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it:
and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 KJV
LORD God, would You hold me in Your arms and caress the very being that I am?  Whisper to me of Your love, Your plans, Your will, Your desire for me, for this life.  Remind me of the time that slips by and the time that I have NOT spent with You, and the time You want me with You, near You, walking with You.  I pray that guilt not enter in, but that desire to please You bears so much weight for You, Your Kingdom, that I want to and will bow before You, bending my knees at Your feet.  I love You, LORD.  I want to be in Your will, Your Word, Your Way.  In Your Worthy Name, Amen.

A Sabbath Moment

Hebrew Shabbat (שַׁבָּת), “to cease”
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Psalm 51:10-12

Right spirit

It is in rest that God can cleanse me afresh, change me to walk uprightly, bring me back to a closeness with Him, revitalize the joy of my salvation, and call to remembrance all He is and all He does in my life.

In rest, LORD, You refresh me to Your reborn child.  You remind me through Your Word of Your promises and Your prophecies.  You call me back onto the path, the future You have made for me.  You rejoice over me with Your gladness.  And You quiet me by Your love that I mayrest in You.  May I peacefully lay in Your arms besides the still waters.  Amen.
