By His Power

jer 10_12

It is he who made the earth by his power,
who established the world by his wisdom,
and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.

When he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens,
and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth.
He makes lightning for the rain,
and he brings forth the wind from his storehouses.  KJV

Our God…He is Mighty, Majesty, Power, and Strength.  He is King.  He is all that He is and can make what He wills come to fruition.  His Son gave His all for us.  May we humble ourselves to accept His offerings for our salvation.

Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah.   Psalm 24:10

The LORD reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The LORD has clothed and girded Himself with strength; Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved.  Psalm 93:1

“Also the Glory of Israel will not lie or change His mind; for He is not a man that He should change His mind.” 1 Samuel 15:29

“Out of the north comes golden splendor; Around God is awesome majesty.” Job 37:22

And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much better than the angels, as He has inherited a more excellent name than they. Hebrews 1:3-4

Father, You are my all.  When I stray from Your hand, please hold on and keep me near that I will remember the all that You have done for me.  You provide, protect, and give my life purpose.  Thank You for encircling me with Your love.  May I be faithful and trustworthy to You, my Father.  May I respect and revere and be awed by You in all ways.  And may I be pleasing unto You.   You are glorious, LORD…glorious and to You I give all the glory.   In the Name of Your Son, I Pray.  Amen.

Walk in Him

“I will make them strong in the Lord, and they shall walk in His Name,” declares the Lord.  Zechariah 10:12
Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,
having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith,
just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.

Colossians 2:6-7

I believed; therefore I received Christ Jesus as my Lord and Savior.  The time was … 1993, July 17th to be exact.  A beautiful time in my life.

At that time, my roots were planted in the One Who can grow me into the flower He so desires. Since then, I walk with He Who walks with me.

He builds me up.  He takes the time to continually build, edify, love me.  (How can I so easily tear myself down without even knowing what I have done?  He is growing my roots deeper into Him that I will deny self and quit breaking those roots away from Him.)

He establishes me in faith, in trust, in Him.  (How can I mistrust, doubt, walk in fear when He is so near?)

I am instructed in much and one lesson taught again and again is to give gratitude, to overflowing, abounding.  (How can I walk with Him and not be thankful for all He is and does for me?  How can I be ungrateful?  How?)

In Him, I have my time.  Learning to walk slowly with the One to Whom I owe my all, to contemplate simply the lessons of His love for me, to receive His Words into my heart, in His time, in His will.  He teaches me of the Father.

How can I not walk with Him in His time, in His Holy Place, in His peace, in His joy?  I surely can.  My time is in His hands, His time.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:…
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Father, I walk.  I listen.  I desire to be consistent as I walk and as I listen.  Guide me and hold me as You teach me Your Truth.  May I slow down and wait for You.  May I rush forward to keep up with You.  I pray that I would always be mold-able.  May I know that Jesus is with me on the road.  I pray I know the burning heart in me and realize that Jesus was right with me.  I don’t want to miss the moment.  Hold me in Your moments, Father.  Hold me, slow me, calm me, keep me.  I want to walk with You always in Your moments.  Surely, I do not want to miss any time in Your Presence, LORD.  Amen.

Listen to Me

Psalm 81

Oh, That My People Would Listen to Me

To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. Of Asaph.

Sing aloud to God our strength;
shout for joy to the God of Jacob!
Raise a song; sound the tambourine,
the sweet lyre with the harp.
Blow the trumpet at the new moon,
at the full moon, on our feast day.

For it is a statute for Israel,

a rule of the God of Jacob.
He made it a decree in Joseph
when he went out over the land of Egypt.
I hear a language I had not known:
 “I relieved your shoulder of the burden;
your hands were freed from the basket.
In distress you called, and I delivered you;
I answered you in the secret place of thunder;
I tested you at the waters of Meribah.   Selah
Hear, O my people, while I admonish you!
O Israel, if you would but listen to me!
There shall be no strange god among you;
you shall not bow down to a foreign god.
I am the Lord your God,
who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

“But my people did not listen to my voice;
Israel would not submit to me.
So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts,
to follow their own counsels.
Oh, that my people would listen to me,
that Israel would walk in my ways!
I would soon subdue their enemies
and turn my hand against their foes.
Those who hate the Lord would cringe toward him,
and their fate would last forever.
But he would feed you with the finest of the wheat,

and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

In His mighty strength, He relieves, He frees, He delivers, He answers.  In His powerful justice, He tests, admonishes, and He gives over to their (our) own ways.  He will fill and feed, He will protect, He will satisfy.  He is their (our) God.  He loves us and will do anything for us that is in our best interest, even admonishing.  We must learn.  We must seek Him.  We must listen.  We must follow His ways and not ours.

This Psalm brings to mind all that is going on in the world today in the Middle East and in Israel.  A world turning upside down.  A time of change.  Things are happening so quickly and for so many reasons.  Many questions without answers.

For Israel, God is still calling them to listen, just as God calls me to listen.

“Listen”.      shama`      shä·mah’         שָׁמַע

Israel is made up of two roots:
1.   sarah    sä·rä’      שָׂרָה
contend, have power, contend with, persist, exert oneself, persevere
2.  ‘el          āl             אֵל
1) god, god-like one, mighty one
a) mighty men, men of rank, mighty heroes
b) angels
c) god, false god, (demons, imaginations)
d) God, the one true God, Jehovah
2) mighty things in nature
3) strength, power

On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it shall grievously hurt themselves.  And all the nations of the earth will come together against it.  Zechariah 12:3
In the end, God prevails.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country, and I will bring them to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.  And they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in faithfulness and in righteousness.”  Zechariah 8:7-8

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue shall take hold of the robe of a Jew, saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”  Zechariah 8:23

Oh Heavenly Father, may our hearts stay focused upon You.  May we love, pray, help in ways we can the children of Israel.  Please don’t allow us to be afraid and not stand up for them.  May Israel listen and may their ears be ready to hear that the Messiah is here.  Oh, what a glorious day when we are all with You, with Jesus.  To shout for joy and sing a song aloud … All In His Wonderful Name, Amen.

** In the lines with the Hebrew, the first word is the “transliteration”, second is the pronunciation, and, of course, the final is the Hebrew.

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from Whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of His glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.  Ephesians 3:14-19

My Father in Heaven, I pray that our roots grow down and out into the rich soil of Your Love.  May we bend our knees in prayer to You, knowing that You hear us and will answer us.  You know what is best for us.  Your Holy Spirit prayers for us when we struggle with how to pray.  Thank You, Father, for Your love and kindness.

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.  And He Who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.  And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:26-28

Holy Spirit, You know that my heart yearns to be deeply rooted in the Word and the Heart of God.  Pray for me according to God, drawing me closer and closer to my Creator.  Root me breadthwise and lengthwise in Him.  Root me as high and as deep as I need so that I can know the love of Christ and to be filled with the fullness of God.  In the Name of Jesus, I pray.  Amen.

A Contrite Heart

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit,
A broken and a contrite heart—
These, O God, You will not despise.  Psalm 51:17  NKJV

My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.  NIV

The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit.
You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.  NLT

The first daisy looks so disheveled.  I, too, can look like that on the outside.  Something felt broken for me.  I did not always know just what, but God knows everything about me.  He always wraps His arms around me and loves me despite my appearance.  He always will when I ask.  He loves me as I am.

Sometimes, I can look like this daisy on the outside yet feel like the first one on the inside.  I am all torn up and falling apart because of sin.  I don’t have answers to my questions and I don’t sit with the LORD long enough to hear His answers.  I am all jumbled up yet look perfectly all together (well, sort of) from the outside.   God knows this too!

Coming to Him with a contrite spirit, He holds me, forgives me, loves me as only He can.

Contrite:  feeling or expressing remorse or penitence; affected by guilt

very much crushed, very small, as dust

rejected, cast down

The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart,
And saves such as have a contrite spirit.  Psalm 34:18

He is near to us and saves us when we are broken.

For thus says the high and exalted One
Who lives forever, whose name is Holy,
“I dwell on a high and holy place,
And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit
In order to revive the spirit of the lowly
And to revive the heart of the contrite.  Isaiah 57:15

He dwells with us when we are crushed and at our lowest point.

“For My hand made all these things,
Thus all these things came into being,” declares the LORD.
“But to this one I will look,
To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.  Isaiah 66:2

He looks to us when we are but dust.

You return man to dust
and say, “Return, O children of man!”  Psalm 90:3

He calls to us in the depth of our sin, in our guilt, in our depravity.

Praising You, Father that You accept me broken and with a crushed, contrite heart.  How easily I can slip into feeling so far away from You that I can’t imagine that You would actually be so close to me with open arms, waiting for Your daughter to fall into Your loving arms.  You pull me to You and I know Your love.  All crumpled up and weary, You still love me and care about me, inside and outside.  Praise You, Abba Father.  I love You so.
